Pet vacation homes let picky dog owners bypass the kennel
3/1/2012If you're reluctant to stick your dog in a kennel while you're traveling, the owners of DogVacay.com hope you'll book a vacation home for your pup with them. According to Mashable, interested hosts sign up, set their price, and specify their availability and dog preference; dog owners commission lodging directly through the site. "We want this to be very different than finding a stranger on Craigslist," says cofounder Aaron Hirschhorn. Owners can ensure their pet is in loving hands by requesting photo updates during their dog's stay and requiring caretakers to have dog CPR certification.
@Urban_momma_zen tweets, "Sounds like a great idea to me! Doggie sleepovers!" Average price to put up a pooch: $30 to $35 per night.
