N.M. senator had secret son with daughter of another senator2/20/2013
Retired New Mexico Senator Pete Domenici announced to the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday that he fathered a son out of wedlock over 30 years ago with Michelle Laxalt, the daughter of Nevada Senator Paul Laxalt. Apparently, the child was the product of a one-night tryst, so it was kept a secret for 30 years; Domenici and Michelle Laxalt decided to come forward based on suspicions that the story was about to be leaked. Domenici's statement mentions that his family "has been aware of these events for several months," which would imply that he only told them last year, but then again, it is difficult, in these modern times, to find an appropriate time to tell your family about your secret senatorial love-child.
