Petition convinces Seventeen mag to lay off the Photoshop

Earlier in the year, Maine teenager Julia Bluhm launched a petition asking Seventeen magazine to print more images of young women that haven't been touched up. The petition went viral, racked up thousands of signatures, and has now achieved its goal. In a letter to readers in the mag's August issue, Seventeen editor Ann Shocket pledged to "always feature real girls and models who are healthy". The magazine will continue to airbrush away its models' flyaway hairs and clothing folds, but it'll start posting before-and-after pics from its photo shoots on its Tumblr account. "This is a huge victory, and I'm so unbelievably happy," gushed Bluhm.
