Georgia rep says Todd Akin was 'partially right' on legitimate rape
1/11/2013Were you glad that whole Todd Akin "legitimate rape" mess was over? Well, get depressed again. Despite the GOP losing U.S. Senate races over Akin's comments, a Republican Congressman just can’t get enough of the toxic topic, saying Akin was, in a way, correct in his theories. Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.), a former OBGYN, told a Georgia audience that his time with stressed wannabe parents taught him that "adrenaline can cause you not to ovulate. So [Akin] was partially right." Following a strong backlash, Gingrey said his comments were "misconstrued" and that he was not trying to defend Akin or Richard Mourdock, the Indiana Senate candidate who also lost the election after making controversial comments on rape.
