Photo exhibit shows Barbie taking a pregnancy test

"Disturbing," "kinda intense" and "hilarious" are just a few of the tweets describing Sarah Haney's new Barbie-gone-bad exhibit. In her latest photographic series devoted to the plastic Mattel fashionista, Haney explores the "dark side of life in the Dream House": Barbie takes a pregnancy test, Ken covers his anatomically incorrect doll parts by cross-dressing, and they both confront the repercussions of binge drinking. Haney, who admits as a child she was "always bothered by that smile," tells the Huffington Post, "[Barbie's] marketed as this wholesome, all-American Madonna to little girls ... but she's a pretty clear embodiment of the whore." @DevinEmily, for one, isn't surprised to catch a glimpse of the Barbie underworld: "I always knew there was more behind those wide eyes."
