Physicist writes 4-page paper to argue his way out of a ticket
4/14/2012A University of California, San Diego physicist argued his way out of a $400 traffic ticket by writing a four-page paper purportedly proving that he could not have failed to halt at a stop sign. While it's doubtful anyone in the courtroom fully understood Dmitri Krioukov's abstract, the treatise titled "The Proof of Innocence" apparently made the argument that the officer who gave the ticket had his view briefly blocked, and furthermore, the officer's distorted view of the car had confused him into thinking Krioukov hadn't stopped. Krioukov's paper is available online for anyone who wants to check his math or use it as a template to try to talk their way out of their own moving violation.
