Principal ends up red-faced in flap over sixth-grader's pink mohawk

10/6/2012

Cynthia Frost seems to be picking the wrong battles. The principal at Clifty Creek Elementary School in Columbus, Ind., told Trevor Foster he couldn’t try out for the basketball team until he lost the pink mohawk he wore to support his mother, who is receiving treatment for breast cancer. A Facebook campaign and pushback from the school board prompted Frost to relent and apologize, including asking Trevor to help organize a school fundraiser for breast cancer research. Trevor said it helped, but this reportedly isn't the first time she's targeted the 11-year-old student. Last year, she had him give up his "I Love Boobies" bracelet and turn a pink shirt inside out, said Trevor’s dad, Tamage Foster. [Source]
