Plastic could be making you obese

Bad news on the obesity front: An incredibly common plastic -- found in everything from water bottles to the plastic lining of canned foods -- may be making us fat. Bisphenol A, or BPA, has long been the focus of controversy, with some scientists saying that it can interfere with how the body handles fat and insulin. "When you eat something with BPA, it's like telling your organs that you are eating more than you are really eating," BPA expert Angel Nadal told the Huffington Post. A new study by Nadal suggests that even very low levels of BPA can prompt the body to unleash twice as much insulin as it requires, which can lead to weight gain and even diabetes
