Playboy makes the hop to Israel with first Hebrew edition

3/5/2013

Readers in the Holy Land can now gape at their own wholly unclothed "girls next door" — and read about them in their native tongue. Playboy Israel, the iconic mag's first-ever Hebrew-language edition, featuring Israeli models and Israeli-written articles, launched on Tuesday. Owner and publisher Daniel Pomerantz, a lawyer who moved to Israel from Chicago, called the new venture a "complicated and beautiful magazine for a complicated and beautiful country." It still remains to be seen whether Playboy's complicated, beautiful Bunnies will successfully make the hop to a new habitat. The U.S. version of the magazine has long been available in Israel, and the Israeli edition of Penthouse, launched in 1989, was a total flop. [Source]
