Nation's plumbers will spend Black Friday unclogging your toilet

11/22/2012

While you're battling to get your hands on cheap electronics, toys and who knows what else this Friday, spare a thought for plumbers. Black Friday is reportedly the busiest day of the year in the plumbing business, thanks to all those Thanksgiving-related waste products being thrown down garbage disposals and (of course) toilets. According to Roto-Rooter, the largest plumbing services company in North America, the number of calls to plumbers on Black Friday is 50 percent above average. Houston plumber Tom Pierce reported that "slippery" things can "form a paste" and "swell up in a pipe" — be thankful this year that he was merely referring to improperly discarded potato and onion peelings and not whatever unpleasant thing you were thinking of.
