Ten tons of fresh snow ought to cool off these California polar bears

11/25/2012

Sure, they're stuck thousands of sunny miles from where their usual sub-zero action is, but zoo life seems to agree with Pike and Ulu. And since they both have November birthdays, the San Francisco Zoo decided to do it up special for the 30-something polar bears. So the zoo blew 10 tons of fresh snow into their habitat, or at least as fresh as a machine can make it. The two bears have lasted almost twice as long as the normal life expectancy of the species, but the look on Pike's face as he tries out his cold treat suggests he's still a kid at heart. Snow use denying it: we love polar bears. [Source]
