Cop shoots charging pit bull protecting its owner

Star the pit bull is overprotective of its homeless owner, Lech Stankiewicz, and that led to an ugly scene in the streets of New York when a policeman shot the dog in the head after it snapped at a pedestrian and then rushed another cop.  The video that's been making the rounds is brutally graphic, but witness Johnny Rodriguez acknowledged that "I may have done the same thing that the cop did … I don't know if you stand there and get bit or use your gun." Stankiewicz, who appeared to be intoxicated, was cited for an open container. Star, meanwhile, is showing "signs of slight improvement" at an animal shelter. [Source]
