Police van fail inadvertently encourages drunken driving
2/27/2013Cops in Australia were left red-faced after an anti-drunk driving message on the side of police vehicles was found to be communicating the exact opposite. "Real mates don't let mates drink drive" was lettered on police vans used at DUI checkpoints across the state of Tasmania, but when the vans' sliding doors are opened, the message reads "Real mates drink drive." The slogan (the anti-DUI one, that is) is part of a campaign by Australia's Road Safety Advisory Council and the police department said it's up to the council to pay for new paint jobs once officers are done removing the offending slogan.
