Poll says most Americans aren't California dreaming

The Public Policy Polling firm had enough time on its hands to conduct phone interviews with 3,300 Americans to determine the relative popularity of our 50 nifty states. Unlike a Miss America pageant, there was no swimsuit competition, but the results were exciting-ish, nonetheless. Unsurprisingly, the winner is: Hawaii. (But really, how could anyone dislike Hawaii?) The least popular state is California, which Republicans "absolutely hate" and isn't in the Democrats' top five either. Aside from the Golden State, only four other states were ranked negatively: Illinois, New Jersey (you can probably thank the Jersey Shore in part for that one), Mississippi and Utah.
