Indiana school shooting possibly prevented same day as Sandy Hook
12/16/2012On Friday morning, as tragedy stuck Connecticut, a similar crisis may have been averted in Cedar Lake, Ind. 60-year-old Von Meyer allegedly threatened to burn his wife in her sleep and then "kill as many people as he could" at Jane Ball Elementary School, which stands less than 1,000 feet from his house. Police responded by boosting school security around the area Friday, and presumably as events unfolded in Sandy Hook, they decided to take the threat more seriously, with a SWAT team helping to arrest Meyer on Saturday. Arresting officers found 47 guns in his home, along with more than $100,000 worth of ammunition. [Source]
