Oppressive Amsterdam mayor bans smoking weed at school

Buzzkill dean — oops — Amsterdam mayor Eberhard van der Laan, has announced plans to prohibit the smoking of marijuana in the city's schools. While gravity bongs were never exactly allowed by teachers and principals, existing leniency laws meant there was nothing they could do about students lighting up. According to a city spokeswoman, kids turning up to class stoned has been a problem. While the new rules do fall into a broader "no toking zones" policy, van der Laan has assured tourists they'll still be allowed to get a hit in the city's many "coffee shops," despite next year's national ban.
