Precocious baby lemur takes ride on rope

4/8/2012

They grow up so fast. One minute they're a baby ring-tailed strepsirrhine primate that won't stop clenching their tiny paws around your neck, the next minute they're reaching out into the world, grabbing ropes and swinging out of your arms like a tiny, golden-eyed trapeze artist. While you know they'll find their way back to you, because their muscles are the size of pencil erasers and their spindly little arms are not yet developed enough to swing on that rope for too long, if anyone asks you if you're proud of them the only answer is, "I am. I AM."
