'Virgin Mary' chips taste like controversy and complaints
2/4/2013Virgin bloody mary-flavored potato chips might be delicious, but they've been pulled from shelves after shoppers thought their name was in bad taste. Pret a Manger, a British sandwich chain, had barely finished unpacking their "Virgin Mary" chips (because they're alcohol-free, geddit?) before the criticism started rolling in from customers and Catholic groups alike. "It didn't take many complaints," a company spokesman said. "For the sake of a particular flavor of [potato chips], we don't want anyone offended." Catholic website Protect the Pope was pleased with Pret's fast response, as well as its decision to give the unsold bags of chips to the homeless. [Source]
