The attacks on U.S. embassies in Egypt and Libya Tuesday led to the deaths of four Americans, including Christopher Stevens, the ambassador to Libya, who was killed in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi. The attacks, in particular the one that led to Stevens’ death, have already had political ramifications in the U.S. and are likely to have a significant impact in regards to U.S. diplomacy in the Middle East. In Benghazi today, residents took to the streets for a pro-U.S. demonstration and a show of support for those killed in the attacks, while condemning the attackers.
