Promising college basketball player quits hoops to model
6/9/2012Dream big, we say, and we congratulate Krystal Forthan for following hers, which necessitates quitting college basketball to pursue a career in modeling. Forthan, who transferred to West Virginia from LSU last month, was the country's fifth-ranked high school player in 2011. We get it, her heart wasn't in basketball, and while some might say modeling is a cynical, heartless business built on using unrealistic standards of beauty to sell consumer products, college athletics too is a cynical, heartless business that uses an outdated idea of amateurism to exploit student-athletes to generate revenue and publicity for universities. Best of luck, Krystal!
