Rondo out for season as hex of the NBA superstars continues
1/27/2013The celebration after Boston turned back the Miami Heat in two overtimes on Sunday was muted quickly. Only then did coach Doc Rivers tell the Celtics that star point guard Rajon Rondo would miss the rest of the season with a torn knee ligament. Major injuries to superstars have cast a dark cloud over recent NBA seasons (Blake Griffin's kneecap in 2010, Derrick Rose's knee last year), and Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire and Kevin Love have missed major chunks of this season. But it will mostly haunt Boston: The Celtics are clinging to the eighth and last Eastern Conference playoff spot at the moment. [Source]
