Turkish sailor's eight-month voyage to find lost love ends badly
11/22/2012As a seafaring tale of romance, the ending needs a little work. Ramazan Noyan Culum, 38, met an English waitress in a Cyprus restaurant in 2005. Courtney Murray only served the Turkish man once and didn't want to go on a date with him, but Culum obviously fell hard. Once he found Murray on Facebook last year, he set sail from Turkey on his 16-foot yacht to see his lost love in England. Battling heavy seas and other hardships, Culum blogged about his journey and stayed the course, even as Murray's concerned relatives left comments on his blog that she was married and not interested. When he arrived, U.K. authorities detained the truly hopeless romantic, who didn't have a visa or valid passport. The thwarted Romeo is being sent back to Turkey. [Source]
