Student says she faces expulsion for 'intimidating' her alleged rapist
2/26/2013Landen Gambill, a sophomore at the University of North Carolina, claims she's being punished for daring to speak publicly about her rape and how badly her school reacted when she reported the incident. After she went to the press with the story of her sexual assault, Gambill says she was charged with violating the school's Honor Code — specifically, with "disruptive or intimidating behavior" which could "adversely affect" her alleged rapist (whom she has never publicly identified). "I'm mostly surprised at just how crazy it is, that they're willing to charge me with something just because my rapist is feeling uncomfortable," Gambill said. "I don't have any faith in the honor system at all." [Source] and [source]
