Rapper uses MJ song to tell hip-hop world that 'gay is OK'
5/3/2012Being gay is OK, and the rap world needs to accept it. That's the message from Adair Lion, a hip-hop artist who's taking a stand against gay discrimination in his new single, "Ben." The song, which mashes up lyrics from the famous MJ song of the same name, aims to break down the stigma of homosexuality in the hip-hop world. Adair's flow has the swagger you'd expect from a rapper, but such lines as "Gay is OK/The number one thing a rapper shouldn't say/I said it anyway/And I made history" give the song a heartfelt message that resonates. One video commenter says, "Thanks for doing what many are afraid to do."
