Rams-49ers end game in tie, which no one seemed to know was possible

11/12/2012

Thanks to the NFC West, the NFL standings now feature numbers in a rarely used column: the one denoting a tie. The San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams finished four quarters knotted at 24-24, but when neither side could score in overtime (despite two very good chances for the Rams, negated by two very stupid penalties), they earned the first T-for-Tie in the NFL since 2008. Didn't know that could happen? Neither did some of the players. Rams receiver Danny Amendola said he thought they'd head to an NCAA-style second overtime, while Niners safety Dashon Goldson was equally lost. "When I saw both sides walking onto the field, I was like, 'Where’s everybody going?'" he said. [Source]
