Reagan's boyhood home might be turned into Obama library parking lot
1/31/2013If you believe some of Ronald Reagan's fans, a plan to knock down the former president's boyhood home and build a parking lot in its place is a scheme concocted by "the liberal Chicago establishment." Reagan lived at the apartment building at 832 E. 57th Street in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood for some time from 1915. The University of Chicago has announced plans to demolish the building and build a parking lot there. The university is also "aggressively lobbying" to be the site of Obama's future presidential library, leading some to suspect that the current president's supporters want to literally pave over traces of The Gipper in Chicago. White House press secretary Jay Carney denied there's a conspiracy afoot, tweeting that "the report is false. Shocking, I know." [Source]
