Real-life Forrest Gump finishes 30,000-mile walk
2/26/2012Steve Fugate didn't take to support groups or religious groups after the suicide of his son in 1999, so he created his own coping mechanism: "Trail Therapy." From 2001 until Saturday, Fugate walked across the country with a "Love Life" billboard, totaling more than 30,000 miles before finishing in Oakland, Calif., on Saturday, KTVU reports. Fugate kept walking through his daughter's death by drug overdose in 2005, and will continue to spread the "Love Life" mantra, but he's giving his 65-year-old knees a rest: he's planning to buy an RV and paint the slogan on the side of it.
How many miles have you walked consecutively?
