Woman fined for blinging out her electronic monitoring bracelet
2/9/2013If you have a three-month long court-ordered curfew, you have plenty of extra time on your hands, which could be why Rebecca Gallanagh decided to bedazzle her electronic monitoring bracelet. Unfortunately the 22-year-old's rhinestone enhancements cost her $220 in fines for "compromising the integrity" of the device. Gallanagh — who earned her tracking bracelet after a nightclub fight — said that she just wanted to make it look nice, especially since she was being tracked during the festive holiday season. The court didn't agree, even though she didn't violate her curfew at all. "It's petty," she said of their decision. "I wouldn't have wasted my time doing it if I knew I was going to be fined for it."
