Don't worry, those freaky red lights in the sky are just a NASA rocket

1/30/2013

If you are stargazing along the Atlantic seaboard this evening and see two bright red tracers of light shoot across the sky, we promise you that you aren't having an acid flashback. It's just NASA. The government space agency was scheduled to launch a rocket this evening, possibly as early as 5:30 p.m. ET (though possibly much later), from the Wallops Island Flight Facility off the Virginia coast. Scientists predicted that, when launched, the space missile would emit a chemical tracer, creating two vibrant, red-colored lithium vapor trails streaking across the sky, and perhaps causing UFO excitement. If you already have your grainy video uploaded and ready to send to the National Inquirer, we apologize for the letdown.
