Red Robin introduces burgers with super-hot ghost peppers
6/27/2012The Bhut Jolokia pepper is known as the ghost pepper, and it's among the spiciest (it's about 300 times hotter than a jalapeno), most uncomfortable foods on the planet (seriously, consuming one can cause serious discomfort). Sounds like the perfect addition to a chain restaurant's menu, right? The Red Robin burger chain thinks so, introducing a pair of ghost pepper-flavored burgers to its 460 locations today. Diners can choose between the "Fiery Ghost" (ghost pepper sauce, jalapenos and pepper jack cheese) and the "Cry Baby" (ghost pepper ketchup, onions sauteed in hot sauce and pepper jack). Some early reviewers are less than impressed by its hotness.
