Rescue animals star in artist's yoga calendar with a twist
5/25/2012These flexible canines are reclaiming the downward dog and getting in on the yoga action. Photographer Dan Borris and his wife, Alejandra, a former yoga teacher, thought it would be fun seeing animals do yoga -- and we agree! After photographing their own critters twisted into yoga pretzels, they worked with their friends' pets, and then moved on to working with rescue puppies and kittens from a shelter. Don't cry "animal cruelty" yet: Alejandra is trained in TTouch (a kind of therapeutic animal massage), which helped her to relax the animals and make them feel safe. And then there's the all-important computer graphics wizardry, without which the "Ruff Guide to Yoga" calendar would have been totally impossible.
Could animals really benefit from yoga?
