Youth baseball coach spends 50K to build 'revenge team'

9/25/2012

Robert Sanfilippo is what you might call an overzealous parent. The Long Island, New York, man was so irked by his son sucking at baseball that he spent more than $50,000 on a “revenge” team to get back at the squad that his kid wasn’t good enough to play for. For a team of 10-and 11-year-olds. According to authorities, Sanfilippo spent lavishly on his retribution squad (he named them Long Island Vengeance), recruiting players via newspaper ads and shelling out for top-of-the-line equipment, including $300 batting helmets with airbrushed skull and crossbones insignias. Shockingly, Sanfilippo was recently arrested after he allegedly sent threatening messages to an opposing coach. [Source]
