Youth baseball coach spends 50K to build 'revenge team'
9/25/2012Robert Sanfilippo is what you might call an overzealous parent. The Long Island, New York, man was so irked by his son sucking at baseball that he spent more than $50,000 on a “revenge” team to get back at the squad that his kid wasn’t good enough to play for. For a team of 10-and 11-year-olds. According to authorities, Sanfilippo spent lavishly on his retribution squad (he named them Long Island Vengeance), recruiting players via newspaper ads and shelling out for top-of-the-line equipment, including $300 batting helmets with airbrushed skull and crossbones insignias. Shockingly, Sanfilippo was recently arrested after he allegedly sent threatening messages to an opposing coach. [Source]
