Mistake leads to woman being buried with organs beside her in buckets

In what sounds like a scene from a B-movie horror flick, one New York City family is seeing red after a medical examiner sent the body of an 82-year-old relative to a funeral — with her organs missing. Well, they were actually sent in a separate shipment, and the family had to bury Rhoda Callwood with her body in a casket and organs next to her in plastic buckets. Awkward. Apparently the medical examiner’s office received the body and organs separately from the hospital Callwood died at and didn’t want to reopen the body to put them back in as the body was being prepared for burial.
