Prosecutor: Cop left daughter to die in hot car after killing her mom

1/15/2013

A Washington, D.C. cop shot his mistress and allowed their infant daughter to "cook" in a hot car to avoid paying child support, according to prosecutors. State's attorney Angela Alsobrooks told the court that police officer Richmond Phillips "was either going to talk her out of that paternity suit or he was going to kill her" when he met Wynetta Wright, 20, to see their daughter Jaylin for the first time in a park outside Washington. Alsobrooks alleges the two spoke for hours before Phillips shot the woman to death, leaving Jaylin in the car with the windows up to perish as the temperature in the vehicle reached 125 degrees.
