Florida governor gave adopted dog back after taking office
1/15/2013The Case of the Governor and the Missing Dog has been solved. In 2010, Florida Gov. Rick Scott and his family adopted Reagan, a rescued Labrador Retriever, shortly after Scott secured the Republican gubernatorial nomination. But the last time any news accounts mentioned Reagan was shortly after Scott’s inauguration in January 2011. The newshounds at the Tampa Bay Times got curious, and asked “Where’s Reagan?” Scott and his staff zigged and zagged, finally admitting the governor returned Reagan to his former owner a month after taking office because the pooch “scared the living daylights” out of folks at the governor’s mansion.
