Connecticut schools near Sandy Hook put on lockdown this morning

12/17/2012

A Connecticut school district was placed on lockdown Monday morning after a 911 caller reported seeing a "suspicious" man dressed in black carrying a rifle at a local train station. All the schools in Ridgefield — just 20 miles from Sandy Hook Elementary — were locked down, and buses were diverted away from the elementary school across the street from the Branchville Train Station. State police officers and K-9 units remained on the scene throughout the afternoon looking for the man, who has yet to be located. "We're still looking in the area," Detective Steve Papstein says. "We don't know if the person is armed." [Source]
