Pastor had to apologize for appearing at Sandy Hook vigil
2/7/2013On Dec. 16, Rob Morris gave the closing benediction at an emotional interfaith vigil held in Newtown, Conn., two days after the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Morris, a pastor at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Newtown, was among the attendees of a vigil that included President Obama and relatives of the victims, as well as Christian, Jewish and Muslim leaders. Morris was asked to apologized for his appearance by the president of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, for his “joint worship with other religions.” Morris’ church doesn’t allow clergy to worship with other faiths, and thus, he was forced to apologize for demonstrating brotherhood and faith in a time of need.
