US officials believe Iran is likely behind American's disappearance

1/9/2013

Robert Levinson, a retired FBI agent, disappeared in 2007 from the Iranian island of Kish. In 2010 and 2011, his family began receiving jarring photos and a hostage video that led American officials to believe he was held captive by terrorists. Now, the U.S. believes the Iranian government is behind the abduction. In the just-released photos, shown above, a bearded and disheveled Levinson is shown in an orange jumpsuit similar to the ones worn by detainees at Guantanamo, holding signs with messages such as “I am here in Guantanamo. Do you know where it is?” and  “This is the result of 30 years serving for USA.” Iran denies knowing anything about his disappearance.
