Man faces jail time or fine for laughing too loudly in his own home
3/6/2013No LOLs here. Long Island man Robert Schiavelli has been issued two summonses after his next-door neighbor complained he was laughing too loudly in his own home. Schiavelli, who suffers from frequent seizures and neurological impairments and graduated from high school as a special education student, says his neighbor frequently mocks him, calling him a "retard," and that his best defense is to laugh it off. But he can't laugh off his disturbing-the-peace tickets: He's facing $500 in fines or 30 days in jail. "It's absurd," his lawyer says. "The last time I checked, it was not a crime to laugh." [Source]
