School demands students cut off their hair for drug tests1/31/2013
Students at Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Mo., will have to face an extra kind of test in the 2013-14 school year. They'll be forced to supply strands of hair for mandatory drug tests to detect whether they've used marijuana, cocaine, and several other drugs. Greg Harkness, the private school's principal, said the random tests are intended to help pupils who have made "bad decisions." Students who test positive for drugs will have 90 days to get clean, and test results will be destroyed upon graduation. The scheme has support from students and parents, and is perfectly within the law — though the Fourth Amendment would prohibit similar tests in public schools. [Source]
