Rockies pitcher seeks own relief after upchuck episode

4/4/2012

Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Josh Outman won't be heading to the bullpen on Friday for Opening Day thanks to a vicious bout of food poisoning that caused the lefty to throw up so hard that he injured a muscle in his abdomen (his oblique, to be exact). Outman hasn't been able to attend practice, and his vomit fest has now earned him a spot on the 15-day disabled list. "We haven't been able to get him to the mound," Rockies manager Jim Tracy says. "So we're just going to err on the side of caution." That is one sick hurler.
