Man reportedly behind girlfriend hoax told friend Te'o was a victim

Looks like Ronaiah Tuiasosopo might be a serial hoaxer. A friend has told ESPN's "Outside the Lines" that Tuiasosopo made a tearful call to her last month confessing that he'd concocted the fake girlfriend ruse that ensnared Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o. And not just that: "It's a lot of other people they had done this to." Two others, J.R. Vaosa and Celeste Tuioti-Mariner, said Tuiasosopo ran a similar hoax on a cousin of theirs, also involving a girlfriend named Lennay Kekua. The friend who received the December call said she is worried both that Tuiasosopo might do something to himself over his scam and about the impact it might have on his family, which includes several prominent former athletes.
