Te'o hoaxer says he was molested as a child by a family friend

2/1/2013

The Manti Te'o saga continues to wind like the narrative arc of a soap opera. Another twist emerged Friday, when admitted hoaxer Ronaiah Tuiasosopo pinned the "catfishing" of the Notre Dame football star on his allegedly being molested as child. Tuiasosopo told Dr. Phil during the second part of their interview that the hoax had "everything to do" with escaping from reality because of being molested, beginning at age 12, by a pastor and youth minister close to his father. "When I looked at Lennay through Manti's eyes, I got a glimpse of who I was as far as my heart," Tuiasosopo said. He declined to name his alleged attacker, and he didn't say whether he had ever reported the abuse to police. [Source]
