6 people shot to death, 1 stabbed on a violent Saturday in Chicago

1/27/2013

Six people were shot and killed and another fatally stabbed on Saturday in a flurry of violence around Chicago. Ronnie Chambers, 34, was killed while sitting in a parked car on the West Side. His mother, Shirley Chambers, already lost her three older children in shootings a decade ago; Ronnie was her last surviving child. A few hours after Chambers was killed, cops say a gunman opened fire on three men near a South Side restaurant, killing two and injuring one. In the afternoon, a man in his 30s and a teenager were also shot to death. The sixth victim was fatally shot on the South Side late Saturday; the fatal stabbing also happened on the South Side, just before midnight. There have been no arrests. Chicago recorded more than 500 homicides in 2012. [Source]
