Rookie Colorado firefighter's home burns on her first job
6/29/2012Emily Franklin, 18, has the makings of one tough firefighter. On her first time out, the rookie saw her home destroyed as one of the devastating Colorado wildfires raced through her Estes Park neighborhood. After running around with a hose and telling her neighbors to get out of their houses when she saw flames, Franklin got to work putting out other fires once her fellow firefighters arrived. She kept working the whole day, despite having witnessed her family home and her car go up in smoke. "This is my first fire and it was my own home. Great way to kick off a career," she told ABC News, adding she was lucky everyone in her family was OK.
