Rough economy costs police dogs their jobs
4/14/2012Humans aren't the only ones affected by the recession and worldwide unemployment crisis. Two drug-sniffing pups in Halifax became the economy's latest victims this week, after Canada's Border Services Agency eliminated more than two dozen positions from its program. Bret, 6, and Griffin, 7 -- two Labrador Retrievers tasked with helping border officials find drugs and explosives -- were given the pink slip along with 26 of their human companions. It is likely the pooches will be permanently adopted by their handlers. Ruff luck, guys. Guess it's back to mailman watch.
Should the dogs have gotten the ax?
