Epic 125-mile traffic jam keeps drivers in gridlock for entire weekend
12/3/2012If you’ve ever spent half an hour in a traffic jam, take a moment to revisit that particular hell. Now, imagine what it must have been like for the drivers in the 125 miles of road between Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia, who sat in bumper-to-bumper traffic all weekend. Due in part to the three feet of snow that started falling on Friday, these luckless commuters were finally, by Sunday, clearing gridlock at the rate of 3/4-mile per hour. They were trapped so long government emergency agencies tried to make psychological support available, and tents with hot food and drinks were set up for chilly passengers. Hopefully these poor souls will get a pass from work to take the weekend they missed. [Source]
