Russia will body-search military recruits to weed out the gays
1/27/2013Russia has an ingenious new plan to help keep gay men from its military ranks: do humiliating body searches and ask potential recruits probing personal questions, purportedly to help determine their level of "mental health" (read: how gay they are). According to the Moscow Times, new recruits may face searches of their privates as Russian authorities "examine for tattoos indicating homosexual orientation." Officials will also ask new recruits intimate questions about their love lives, specifically whether they have girlfriends and whether it’s important for their lady friends to be faithful. A military psychologist who works with Russian officials noted that the military has majorly "traditional views on sexuality." [Source]
