Baseball's Ryan Freel found dead from apparent suicide

12/23/2012

Baseball is mourning Ryan Freel, the former Cincinnati Red who was found dead in his Florida home yesterday from a gunshot wound. Police are treating the incident as a suicide. The utility player spent most of his career with Cincinnati, but most recently played with the Kansas City Royals. Freel earned fan respect over six seasons for his dogged attitude and flinty playing style. He played outfield, second base and third base throughout his career, and stole over 35 bases a season for the Reds from 2004 to 2006. Freel was only 36 years old. [Source]
