Ryan Gosling rescues New York tourist [UPDATE]

"He did not say 'hey girl.' He said 'hey, watch out!" So says British journalist Laurie Penny, who tweeted on Tuesday that Ryan Gosling saved her from being hit by a NYC taxi when she was "not looking the right way because I am from London." Gosling apparently "grabbed her" before she could become an English-accented hood ornament.

Although Gosling's publicist hasn't commented on his client's alleged superhero status, his identity was confirmed by a bystander who saw him touch Penny with his sexy, sexy hands. "You lucky bitch," the witness said, according to Penny. "Where on 6th?" @Clare_OC responded and HEY GET OUT OF THE ROAD, HE'S NOT HERE TODAY!

The lucky Penny has now penned a Gawker post in which she insists way too much has been made of the whole thing, says she objects to being portrayed as "the ditzy damsel in distress," and allows that, while, yes, Ryan Gosling did save her from a speeding car, "There's a war in the Middle East, so everyone calm down."
